The man of God welcomes scrutiny

The man of God welcomes scrutiny

Today for morning prayer on the feast of st. Louis I read something true and convicting. (Yes, given a choice between saints, I choose first American, then French and the rest are a toss up).

It went "the man of God welcomes the light that searches his deeds and finds them true." or in other words "the man of God welcomes scrutiny." how often do we claim we're doing good, but we aren't confident enough to let another scrutinize our actions? Let alone welcome it?

And this is not to say that the other will see the truth or the goodness in our actions, as that depends upon the state of their soul, but perhaps it is to say that welcoming scrutiny is a form of evangelisation. And a form of purification.

Its the last one that I'm most afraid of.
