making best of bad
so we got scammed in Delhi out of 600$ US
we took a cab and they took us to a dark alley instead of the YMCA at 2 in the morning... where they dropped us off at a "tourist information center" which basically due to our situation our only way out was to buy a package...
we asked for a priest, for the embassy, to go to the trainstation ourselves, but they wouldn't listen.
crazy.
we are HOWEVER now in calcutta and doing FABULOUS! (we'be been here for a few hours and already we're feeling much safer and better). We wen to the us consolate.
NOTE for india... GET SMALL CHANGE FAST otherwise you will lose money quickly... as no one has "Change". and expect everyone to want your money in delhi... don't trust
took a train from agra(taj mahal) to calclutta for 22 hours... it was nice...
got to see alot of the country and got some help.
country is poor poor poor... and desperate.

Yes, prepare to be scammed/persuaded/otherwise massaged out of your money in India. As for Calcutta, what exactly are you doing there--I know you'll be working with missionaries, etc., but what exactly will you be doing day to day? And what road are you going to be living on?
Hey little brother...I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience so early on in your trip. Hopefully you've gotten the worst out the way. I am thankful that God was with both of you (if He hadn't been there things could have been worse). As a result of your experiences I've increased my prayers for both of you...and yes, believe it or not I've even saved a Christian radio station on my dial so that I will think of you both on my way to and from work (it's 30 miles each way so you should know that I'm doing a lot of thinking and praying for you). Take care...I Love you!
